Shore Area Acupuncturist Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Patient

Freehold, NJ – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Saturday the arrest of Dr. Jeng K. Kuan, a 57-year-old acupuncture doctor from Matawan, on charges of sexual assault against a patient. Dr. Kuan faces one count of second-degree Sexual Assault and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact.

The charges stem from an incident reported to the Matawan Police Department on Thursday, January 25. A female victim alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Dr. Kuan during an acupuncture session at the Prosperity Health Center, where he serves as Clinical Director. The facility is located at 952 State Highway 34, Suite 207.

Following an investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) Special Victims Bureau in collaboration with the Matawan Police Department, authorities arrested Dr. Kuan on Thursday, February 1. He is currently detained at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, awaiting his first court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, February 7.
