SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – The Suffolk County Police Department and Commack Fire Department have teamed up for the 14th annual Glen Ciano Blood Drive.

Held in memory of Suffolk County Police Officer Glen Ciano, who was killed by a drunk driver on February 22, 2009, the blood drive aims to bolster critically low blood supplies.

This year’s event is scheduled for February 3, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Commack Fire Department.

Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, Acting Police Commissioner Robert Waring, and Commack Fire District Commissioner Pat Fazio, along with Sue Ciano, the widow of Officer Ciano, emphasized the drive’s importance at a press conference.

The event, crucial for maintaining blood supply levels, saw significant success last year, collecting 289 units of blood. Community members are asked to participate and help surpass last year’s numbers.
