Germantown Man Arrested for Auto Theft and Multiple Charges in Rockville

Rockville, MD – The Rockville City Police Department apprehended 31-year-old Phillip Andrew Murray of Germantown following a response to a call at Ulta Beauty Supply located at 1631 Rockville Pike. The call, which came in early this afternoon, reported a suspicious person possibly armed with a handgun inside the store.

Upon arrival, officers encountered Murray attempting to enter a Toyota passenger car in the parking lot. It was quickly discovered that the registration plates on the vehicle were not assigned to it. Murray resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody and transported to Shady Grove Hospital for evaluation.

Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle Murray was attempting to use had been stolen from Germantown, Maryland. Additionally, the registration plates affixed to the car were reported stolen from Prince George’s County, Maryland. Officers also found stolen merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Rockville inside the vehicle. However, no firearms were located at the scene.


Murray faces several charges including Auto Theft, Theft less than $100, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing/Hindering, and Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana. He also had outstanding arrest warrants through the Montgomery County Department of Police for Second Degree Escape, Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute, and Second-Degree Assault.
