Grand Jury Indicts Driver in Fatal Jersey City Collision

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office announced the indictment of Ziyang Wang, 23, of Jersey City, for his involvement in a multi-fatal collision on Paterson Plank Road on October 16, 2023.

The indictment, signed on January 11, includes three counts of Aggravated Manslaughter and various other charges.

On the night of the incident, Jersey City Police responded to a two-car collision involving a BMW X5 M50i and a Kia Amanti. The crash resulted in the death of the Kia’s driver, Dylan Weidenfeld, 26, and two BMW passengers.


A female backseat passenger of the BMW and a male backseat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene and at Jersey City Medical Center, respectively. Two other passengers sustained injuries, one critical.

Investigations revealed Wang was driving over 100 miles per hour before the collision. He now faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Manslaughter and Reckless Manslaughter.
