Ellicott City, MD – In response to the enthusiastic participation from the community, the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) is excited to announce a second giveaway of AirTag and SmartTag devices today for Hyundai and Kia vehicle owners. This initiative aims to assist in the quick recovery of stolen vehicles by leveraging the technology of Apple AirTags and Samsung Galaxy SmartTags.

The giveaway is exclusive to residents of Howard County, who own a Hyundai or Kia, regardless of the model or year. Interested parties are required to visit the Howard County Police Department Headquarters/Northern District Station, located at 3410 Courthouse Drive, Ellicott City 21043, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 4. To claim a free tracking device, individuals must present their driver’s license, vehicle registration, and, if necessary, proof of residency within Howard County.

These tracking devices serve as a proactive measure to deter vehicle theft and facilitate the recovery process. It is important to note that the police department does not have the capability to access the location information of these devices. Vehicle owners are instructed to contact 911 immediately if their vehicle is stolen, providing the police with the necessary information to assist in the vehicle’s recovery.
