Annapolis Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

Annapolis, MD – Annapolis police were actively engaged in multiple incidents on February 4, responding to reports ranging from unauthorized vehicle use to theft and assault on an officer.

In the early hours, at 1:36 a.m., officers were called to the unit block of Juliana Circle where a vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Camry with Maryland plates 4AK7838, was reported taken without authorization by the owner’s partner. The vehicle’s usage had been a shared agreement between the couple, who reside together. The case hinges on the owner’s decision to press charges.

Later, at 11:21 a.m., a theft from a vehicle was reported on the 200 block of Georgetown Road. Unknown assailants had entered a vehicle, making off with a wallet and AirPods. The area lacked surveillance capabilities, leaving the police with limited leads.

The afternoon brought more severe challenges, as officers encountered Ariel Torres, 41, of Annapolis, on the 1300 block of Forest Drive around 2:09 p.m. Torres, reportedly intoxicated and armed with a knife, was detained but resisted by spitting at an officer, resulting in charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. He was later released on his own recognizance.

Additional theft reports included two iPhones stolen from the unit block of Wardour Drive at 2:58 p.m., and a handicap placard taken from a vehicle on the 200 block of Smith Avenue at 3:18 p.m. Both incidents suffered from a lack of surveillance evidence, complicating recovery efforts.
