Coastal Flood Advisory Issued for Multiple Jersey Shore Counties

Atlantic City, NJ – A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 10 AM EST Wednesday for several counties along New Jersey’s coast, including Atlantic, Cape May, Atlantic Coastal Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, and Southeastern Burlington. Residents and travelers in these areas can expect up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

The advisory, which spans from 4 AM to 10 AM EST Wednesday, warns of potential flooding on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, as well as along inland tidal waterways. The flooding could lead to partial or full road closures in affected areas.

Authorities caution that additional rounds of minor coastal flooding are forecast around the times of the morning high tide through at least the end of this week, with areas of minor coastal flooding possibly extending into the weekend during morning high tides.

Residents and visitors are urged to follow local travel advisories, avoid driving around barricades, and not to drive through water of unknown depth. Extra time should be allowed for travel, and necessary actions should be taken to protect flood-prone property.
