Jersey City Man Indicted for Murder of Lindenwold Woman

Jersey City, NJ – A Hudson County Grand Jury has indicted Gregory Mallard, 35, on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, following the death of 32-year-old Norelis Mendoza. Her body was discovered in Bayonne on May 17, 2023.

The indictment, issued on January 30, 2024, by Judge Jeffrey R. Jablonski, levels against Mallard charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon (vehicle), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (vehicle), failing to dispose of human remains as per the law, desecration of human remains, hindering apprehension, and tampering with physical evidence.

The case unfolded when Jersey City Police were alerted on May 14, 2023, about the missing Lindenwold woman, last seen in Jersey City the day before. The subsequent investigation, led by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit with support from local and state police, led to the discovery of Mendoza’s body near Route 440 at the Jersey City border.


Mallard is scheduled for a post-indictment arraignment on February 12, 2024.
