Man Charged with Murder of Uncle in Brandywine

BRANDYWINE, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has charged 40-year-old James Savoy of Brandywine with the murder of his uncle, 69-year-old George Savoy. The incident occurred on Saturday, around 2:15 am.

Officers responded to a home in the 13900 block of Old Indian Head Road in Brandywine, where they discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. James Savoy was located and taken into custody by patrol officers and a K9 Section officer several hours after the shooting.


The initial investigation indicates that the shooting occurred during a dispute between the nephew and his uncle. James Savoy faces charges of first and second-degree murder, among others, and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
