Serial Robbery Suspects Targeting the Elderly Across Manhattan

New York, NY – The New York City Police Department is reaching out to the public for help in identifying a suspect connected to a series of grand larcenies targeting individuals across multiple precincts in Manhattan, including the 5th, Midtown North, 19th, and 20th Precincts.

The pattern of thefts began on Sunday, November 12, 2023, around 12:49 PM, at the Broadway Lafayette Station. A 43-year-old woman reported that an unidentified man stealthily took her MacBook, valued at around $1,200, before fleeing the scene.

The second incident took place on Thursday, January 4, at 1:00 PM, near 945 Madison Avenue, where a 74-year-old woman’s MacBook, worth approximately $2,750, was stolen from her vehicle’s trunk by an unknown individual who then escaped on foot.


On Friday, January 12, at 9:55 AM, an 83-year-old man became a victim near Broadway and Prince Street, with his wallet and credit cards taken. The thief departed heading south on Broadway.

The fourth theft occurred on Friday, January 26 at 5:20 PM, in the 72 Street and Broadway Station. A 76-year-old woman reported her wallet, containing credit cards, was stolen, with the perpetrator leaving the station on foot.

Most recently, on Friday, February 2 at 6:09 PM, a 90-year-old woman at the 59 Street Columbus Circle Station had her purse, containing credit cards and hearing aids valued at $6,000, snatched by an individual who then fled.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 20 to 25 years old, with a medium complexion.

The NYPD urges anyone with information about these incidents or the suspect’s identity to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigations.
