Syracuse Police Arrest 15-Year-Old for Possession of Loaded Handgun

Syracuse, NY – Syracuse Police officers arrested a 15-year-old juvenile on Sunday, February 4, around 4:55 PM, after the youth was found in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun. The arrest took place in the Stone Court area, where the juvenile, wanted for a previous shots fired incident, was spotted by police.

Officers Nellis and Harriman, upon arriving at the scene, identified and pursued the suspect as he attempted to flee through a courtyard and around apartment buildings. The chase ended when the juvenile was found hiding behind a blue recycling bin. A subsequent search by Officer Nellis uncovered a black and gray Glock 23 .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun equipped with a laser attachment. The firearm contained a 14 round magazine loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

The juvenile has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. Additional charges related to previous incidents were also filed against the individual.
