Middle School Student Arrested for Threatening Her Peer and Bringing Knife to School

Port Charlotte, FL – A distressing incident at Murdock Middle School led to the arrest of a student after authorities discovered a knife in her possession and uncovered threats she made against another student. The episode unfolded earlier today when a School Resource Officer was alerted to a notebook left in a classroom. The notebook contained detailed plans to harm a fellow student, prompting an immediate investigation.

Upon identifying her as the owner of the notebook, the deputy located and interviewed her. She confessed to the notebook’s contents, revealing her intention to harm a female student over personal grievances. A subsequent search of the girl’s backpack yielded a 5-inch steak knife, leading to the halt of the interview and the involvement of the Criminal Investigations Unit.

Further investigation brought to light a sworn statement from a witness, who recounted a lunchtime conversation last Monday where she shared her violent plans from the notebook.

The witness identified the target based on prior knowledge of conflicts between her and the other student, who was accused of flirting with multiple students’ boyfriends, causing unrest. A physical altercation between her and the alleged victim last Friday corroborated the severity of the situation.

This alarming event underscores the critical importance of school safety measures and the vigilance of students and staff in preventing potential violence.
