TOMS RIVER, NJ – Jaelyne Matthews, the standout offensive lineman for the state champion High School North Mariners, is set to represent New Jersey at the Super Bowl LVIII festivities in Las Vegas. The invitation, extended by the New York Giants and Nike, makes Matthews one of only 33 high school athletes nationwide to participate in this prestigious event.

The announcement was made today at High School North by Ethan Medley, the New York Giants Director of Community Relations and Youth Football. Medley presented Matthews with a Giants jersey featuring his last name and a matted plaque commemorating the invitation. The presentation was celebrated with performances by the school’s cheerleaders and band.

Matthews, a junior listed at 6′ 5″ and 290 lbs., is recognized as one of the top high school players in the country, attracting attention from major college football programs. His contribution as an offensive tackle has been pivotal to the Mariners’ recent successes, highlighting the importance of his role on the field.

The event in Las Vegas, likened to the NFL’s Pro Bowl for high school athletes, is organized by Nike and will feature flag football, skills competitions, and more, showcasing the future stars of football.

Among those joining Matthews on stage were Principal Ed Keller, Assistant Principals Chris Blessing and Dave Fazzini, Coach Dave Oizerowitz, Athletic Coordinator Keith Stryker, Athletic Director Ted Gillen, and Superintendent Mike Citta.

Before departing, Medley reiterated his congratulations and good wishes to Matthews, expressing pride in having him represent both the Giants and the local community in Las Vegas.
