Coastal Flood Advisory Issued for Parts of New Jersey

Charlie Dwyer

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 1 PM EST Saturday for several areas in New Jersey. Residents in Middlesex, Western Monmouth, Eastern Monmouth, Ocean, and Coastal Ocean counties should be prepared for up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

The advisory warns of minor flooding beginning on the most vulnerable roads in coastal and bayside communities, as well as along inland tidal waterways. The flooding could lead to some partial or full road closures.

Minor coastal flooding is expected to continue around the times of morning high tides into early next week. Those in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions, including allowing extra travel time due to potential road closures, not driving around barricades, and avoiding water of unknown depth. Residents should also take steps to protect flood-prone property.
