Columbia, SC – A stroke of luck and a second choice led a Midlands man to win $300,000 from the South Carolina Education Lottery. The winning ticket was purchased at Corner Stop #118 on S. Guignard Dr. in Sumter, where the man initially selected a different ticket that didn’t win. Deciding to try his luck again, he switched his choice, leading to the significant win.

Expressing his astonishment, the winner shared with lottery officials that the victory came as a surprise. His first action after claiming the prize was to pay off his mortgage, a dream many aspire to achieve.

With his win, the Max Money game now has one remaining top prize of $300,000, with the odds of winning it standing at 1 in 936,000. As for Corner Stop #118, the store has been rewarded with a $3,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
