SNN Weather Center

Hackensack, NJ – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning effective from 1 AM to 6 PM Tuesday for Western Bergen County, anticipating a significant weather event that will impact the area with a combination of rain and snow. Residents should prepare for a shift from rain to snow in the early hours of Tuesday, with continuous snowfall predicted until late afternoon. The heaviest snowfall is expected between 5 AM and 10 AM, which will likely affect the morning commute, creating slippery and hazardous road conditions.

Snow accumulation across the county is forecasted to range from 3 to 6 inches, with potential for up to 8 inches in the northwestern sections, specifically areas north of RT 4 and west of the Garden State Parkway. These regions, known for their higher elevations, may experience heavier, wet snow.

Officials advise that slight deviations in the storm’s intensity or path could alter snowfall predictions. Throughout the storm, temperatures are expected to hover in the mid-30s, with wind speeds ranging from 10 to 15 MPH and gusts reaching up to 25 MPH.

There is also a possibility of minor tidal flooding along the southern end of the Hackensack River during high tide times, which are forecasted for 11:53 AM on Tuesday, February 13, and 12:25 AM on Wednesday, February 14.

The local authorities and the National Weather Service will continue to monitor the storm’s progression closely and will issue updates as necessary to keep the public informed and safe. Residents are urged to stay prepared and adjust travel plans accordingly to avoid hazardous conditions.
