New Jersey Attorney General Investigates Police Custody Death in Knowlton

Trenton, NJ – The Attorney General’s Office is investigating a death in police custody that took place on February 12 in Knowlton, Warren County.

New Jersey State Police were called to a residence on Columbia Street in Knowlton at around 8 p.m. on February 12, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a female victim with gunshot wounds, who was later declared deceased at the scene.

Responding troopers took A male suspect into custody at approximately 8:30 p.m. The suspect later became unresponsive while in custody, prompting troopers to perform lifesaving efforts. Despite their attempts and the arrival of emergency medical personnel, the individual was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital — Pocono, where he was pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m. The identity of the deceased male has not been released, and the cause and manner of his death are under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office.
