NYPD Investigates Hate Crime Assault on Jewish Man in Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, NY – A 25-year-old Jewish man was attacked with a metal bat in what the NYPD is investigating as a hate crime. Staten Island, NY – The incident occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024, around 2:30 PM in front of 475 Grandview Avenue. An unidentified man reportedly made anti-Jewish remarks towards the victim before striking him in the head with a metal bat, resulting in a laceration.

EMS promptly took The victim to Staten Island University Hospital for treatment. The assailant, described as a 40-year-old male standing 5’11”, fled the scene on foot, heading north on Grandview Avenue towards Netherland Avenue. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, green pants, a black ski hat, and tan boots. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force has taken charge of the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to apprehend the suspect.
