Toms River, NJ – The Toms River Police Department has recently reported incidents, including a jewelry theft, check fraud, and the recovery of stolen vehicles.

A Silverton homeowner reported on February 12 that approximately $8,000 worth of jewelry was missing from her dresser. The homeowner, who often left doors unlocked due to caring for a friend’s dog, allowing various individuals access to the home, could not provide the names of those who entered. There are no surveillance cameras in or around the residence to aid the investigation.

On the same day, a business representative near Hooper Avenue and Route 571 reported a check fraud incident involving a suspicious $7,400 transaction. The fraudulent check, halted by the bank before processing, is believed to be part of a more significant issue involving stolen checks from the U.S. Postal Service in Hamilton Township.

Police departments in Newark and Lacey Township have recovered two vehicles initially reported stolen from Toms River. The vehicle owners have been notified of the recoveries.
