Wildwood Man Charged for Animal Negligence After Dozens of Dogs Found, 1 Dead

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Detectives from the Galloway Township Police Department have arrested 23-year-old Jason Millar of Wildwood Crest on charges of animal cruelty.

On Saturday, February 10, 2024, authorities responded to a property on the 100 block of Zurich Avenue for a follow-up on an animal complaint. Upon arrival, detectives encountered Millar, who identified himself as the owner and caretaker of numerous animals on the premises. An inspection revealed tragic conditions, including a deceased canine and approximately 25 other canines, along with one feline, living in poor conditions with inadequate access to food and water.

Galloway Township Patrol Units and Animal Control were promptly dispatched to the scene. They coordinated with the Galloway Township Office of Emergency Management, the Humane Society of Atlantic County, Hopeful K9, and the Atlantic County Animal Shelter for the rescue and subsequent care of the surviving animals.


Millar was taken into custody and charged with cruelty to animals. He has been released on a summons, awaiting a future court date.
