Cumberland Woman Arrested for Assault and Child Abuse

Cumberland, MD – Early on February 15,, Cumberland Police Department officers were called to the 300 block of Baltimore Avenue following a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they were informed by Jennifer Brooks that she had assaulted the victim, who had subsequently left the area.

The victim was quickly located by officers, who confirmed that Brooks had struck them in the face with a closed fist. The assault was visibly evident to the officers, leading to Brooks’ arrest. Following her arrest, Jennifer Lynn Brooks, 43, of Cumberland, Maryland, was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree child abuse.

Brooks was presented before a District Court Commissioner and was released on her own recognizance.
