DeLand, FL – A small plane crash occurred in the early hours in Volusia County, with the pilot emerging with only minor injuries. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office reported that around 1:49 a.m., a Cessna 172 experienced a power loss and crashed into the woods off Marsh Road, near Lake George State Forest, northwest of DeLand.

Miraculously, the pilot was alert and conscious following the incident, managing to walk away from the crash site. He reported minor injuries and confirmed he was the sole occupant of the aircraft at the time of the accident. Authorities have notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for further investigation.

The successful emergency landing in such challenging conditions highlights the importance of pilot training and emergency preparedness. The incident will undergo thorough review by aviation authorities to determine the cause of the power loss and to prevent future occurrences.
