Oxon Hill Man Dedicates Part of $50k Lottery Win to Cancer Research

Jessica Woods

OXON HILL, MD – An Oxon Hill resident and avid football fan, known as “Pete,” won a $50,000 top prize on a Holiday Cash scratch-off. A lottery player for years, Pete’s strategy of buying five tickets at a time paid off, marking his second significant win. He discovered his latest prize while watching a football game, likening the experience to scoring a touchdown.

Pete intends to use part of his winnings to support cancer research and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, reflecting on his recent cancer diagnosis. He also plans to assist his family and friends, acknowledging their support through his health challenges.

National Harbor Exxon, the retailer that sold Pete’s winning ticket, is located at 8005 Indian Head Highway in Fort Washington. The store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for their role in this inspiring story.
