New York, NY – The New York City Police Department is requesting the public’s help to identify a woman involved in an assault at a subway station. The incident occurred at the 34th Street/Herald Square station mezzanine on Tuesday, February 13, at approximately 5:47 PM, within the 14th Precinct/Transit District 2 jurisdiction.

The man was playing the cello, entertaining passengers inside the station, when the woman, unprovoked, picked up a nearby metal bottle and smashed him in the back of the head with it.

Ian Forest, a famous musician on the station, said he was in a lot of pain and was disoriented. It’s the second time he has been attacked. The last incident occurred in Times Square. He has been performing in the NYC subway station for ten years and said his safety is a concern going forward. He will not be performing in the near future, he said.

A 29-year-old male victim, who was playing music at the time, suffered a laceration after being struck in the head with a metal bottle by an unidentified female. Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene and was last observed heading towards Broadway, between West 34th and West 35th Streets.

The suspect is described as a female with a light complexion, around 5’3″ tall, with a slim build. She was seen wearing a brown fur coat, black winter hat, burgundy scarf, and carrying a multicolored bag across her body. The NYPD urges anyone with information about this individual or the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
