Altercation Near VCU Leaves One Man Laying Dead in Road

Richmond, VA – A deadly shooting occurred early Sunday morning in downtown Richmond, Virginia, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured.

The incident took place on the 300 block of West Broad Street around 3:22 a.m., following an altercation, according to Richmond Police. Officers arrived at the scene to find an adult male unresponsive in the roadway, with an apparent gunshot wound, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Police are jointly investigating the shooting, given its proximity to the university’s Monroe Park campus. Additionally, another adult male with gunshot wounds was transported to a local hospital by personal vehicle, where his injuries are considered life-threatening.
