Jersey Shore Store Owner Attacked in Broad Daylight

Absecon, NJ – A business owner in downtown Absecon became the victim of a harrowing attack on February 19, around 3:30 PM, leading to a swift police response. The female store owner faced an unprovoked assault by Dashawn U. Cooper, 37, of Pleasantville, who had no prior connection to her.

The incident began when Cooper entered the victim’s store and assaulted her. She managed to escape to a neighboring business for safety, but Cooper followed, locked the door, and attempted a sexual assault. Officers arriving at the scene had to force entry to rescue the victim and apprehend Cooper.

Cooper faces serious charges, including 1st Degree Kidnapping and 2nd Degree Attempted Aggravated Sexual Assault, and is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The store owner received treatment for significant injuries from the ordeal.
