Man Fatally Struck by Train in Mastic in Suspected Suicide

Mastic, NY – A tragic incident occurred in Mastic on Saturday evening when a man was fatally struck by a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) train. MTA Police Department Spokesperson Aaron Donovan reported that the accident happened around 6:50 p.m., near the Mastic Road railroad crossing.

The train involved had left Montauk at approximately 5:20 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Jamaica, Queens, at 8 p.m. The incident is currently under investigation as a suspected suicide.

Following the event, LIRR service on the affected branch was temporarily disrupted but returned to normal by 9:20 p.m., albeit with some residual delays.


The identity of the deceased man has not been released as the investigation continues.
