Dorney Park to Launch New Steel Dive Coaster in 2024

ALLENTOWN, PA – Iron Menace, the Northeast’s inaugural dive roller coaster, marks a significant addition to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, being the first new coaster introduced in nearly two decades.

This state-of-the-art attraction begins its adrenaline-pumping ride within the remnants of an ancient steel mill, ascending 160 feet to a suspenseful pause above a beyond-vertical drop. Riders will then plunge into the depths of the first of four stunning inversions. Iron Menace stretches nearly 2,200 feet of steel track, featuring a distinctive “hold and dive” moment that leaves passengers teetering on the brink of a breathtaking 95-degree, 152-foot descent at speeds reaching 64 miles per hour.

Adding to its repertoire of thrilling elements, Iron Menace will introduce the world’s first tilted loop on a dive coaster. Following a dramatic drop, the coaster executes an Immelmann inversion, a zero-g roll offering a sensation of weightlessness, and culminates in a dizzying tilted loop and 360-degree corkscrew spin. This Tuesday, under clear skies, construction crews achieved a significant milestone by completing the assembly of this historic tilted loop.

In anticipation of the 2024 season, Dorney Park has also revealed new attractions within the ‘Steel Yard’ themed area, including the Iron Mill Grill & Bar and Steel Yard Gifts shop. The Cedar Creek Flyers ride will be reimagined as MT Buckets, integrating seamlessly into the new theme.

As the park prepares for the grand opening on May 10, 2024, Dorney Park’s Vice President and General Manager, Jessica Naderman, and Communications and Public Relations Manager, Ryan Eldredge, promise a transformative year filled with updates on the Iron Menace construction and other enhancements.
