Newark Man Arrested After Stealing Car Outside of Local Wawa

Newark, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested19-year-old Aaron Rambert of Newark, Delaware, following an investigation into a stolen vehicle incident

The arrest occurred after a trooper was dispatched to a reported vehicle theft at the Wawa store on 970 Christiana Road in Newark, early on the morning of February 19.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that a Toyota RAV4, left running in the parking lot by its driver, was stolen while the driver was inside the store. Surveillance footage from the scene identified a suspect clad in black clothing taking the vehicle. Utilizing investigative techniques, the stolen Toyota was located parked near the 800 block of Village Circle in Newark. Approaching the vehicle, the trooper found Rambert inside, matching the suspect’s description from the footage, and detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from within.


Rambert resisted arrest but was eventually subdued by the trooper after a brief struggle. A search of Rambert and the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia and approximately 1.85 grams of marijuana. He was transported to Troop 2 and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, a felony, among other offenses.
