Denton, MD – A significant fire damaged a two-story, wood-framed single-family dwelling yesterday, at 108 N. Sixth Street, in the heart of Caroline County’s Denton area.
The Denton Volunteer Fire Company responded to the blaze, which was reported at 10:10 A.M. by multiple neighbors and a passerby. It took approximately one hour for the 25 firefighters who arrived on the scene to bring the fire under control. The property, owned by Daniel Wroe and currently unoccupied due to extensive renovations, suffered estimated losses of $180,000 to both the structure and its contents.
Authorities noted that no smoke alarms or fire sprinkler systems were present in the dwelling at the time of the incident. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with the area of origin identified as inside the home.
