Seaside Heights, NJ – An Uber driver’s quick thinking led to a significant drug seizure that started in Ortley Beach after he was asked to transport a suspicious duffle bag to New York City last week. The driver immediately became cautious, realizing it was a peculiar request by a passenger identified only as Liam.

The Uber driver sensed something amiss and promptly alerted the Seaside Heights Police Department.

The incident began when the driver was called to Ortley Beach for a pickup.

Upon arrival, he was met by an individual described as a black male, about 5’9″ tall, weighing approximately 200 lbs, who requested the transportation of his duffle bag to New York City without accompanying it himself. Concerned about the nature of the request, the driver decided to contact the Seaside Heights Police Department, suspecting the bag might contain illegal drugs.

Upon investigation, Seaside Heights officers, in coordination with the Toms River Police Department discovered the duffle bag was filled with marijuana and gummies.
