Baltimore Police Arrest Suspect in Stolen Car Investigation

Baltimore, MD – A routine patrol by Metro Mobile Unit members in Baltimore’s Southern District led to the arrest of a 19-year-old male suspect in connection with a stolen vehicle case. The incident, which occurred on February 25, showcases the effectiveness of License Plate Reader (LPR) technology in the fight against auto theft.

At approximately 2:14 p.m., officers equipped with an LPR received an alert about a stolen vehicle within their vicinity. Acting swiftly, detectives canvassed the area and spotted a vehicle that matched the description from the LPR alert. The officers then followed the vehicle, which eventually led to a chase ending in the 500 block of Washburn Avenue, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

The 19-year-old male was apprehended following the bailout and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. There, he was charged for his involvement in the auto theft.
