TOMS RIVER, NJ – A Toms River resident stood up to question a proclamation for the Church of Scientology, founded by L. Ron Hubbard.

Toms River officials were questioned as to who approved the proclamation.

Toms River Business Administrator Jon Salonis said he approved the proclamation, which he described as a normal activity for a township like Toms River with many different religious faiths.

Mayor Dan Rodrick explained that the township would not deny a proclamation based on religion regardless of religion and that the Church of Scientology made the request.

“Lafayette Ronald Hubbard was an American author and the founder of Scientology. In his early career, he was a prolific writer of pulp science fiction and fantasy novels; in 1950, he authored Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health and established organizations to promote and practice Dianetics techniques,” according to Wikipedia.
