Prince George’s County Police Investigate Domestic-Related Murder-Suicide in Landover

LANDOVER, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating a tragic incident of domestic-related murder/suicide that occurred inside a Landover residence. The deceased have been identified as 38-year-old Curtis Lynch, the suspect, and 10-year-old Mailyn Turkes, the victim and stepdaughter of the suspect.

The incident unfolded on February 28, 2024, around 9:30 pm, when police were called to a home in the 6900 block of Stansbury Lane following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Lynch and Turkes with gunshot wounds; both were pronounced dead shortly thereafter. An adult female, also shot during the incident, was found in critical but stable condition. She is related to both Lynch and Turkes.

Initial findings suggest Lynch shot the two victims before taking his own life. The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. This incident has left the community in shock, and further details will be provided as the investigation continues. The Prince George’s County Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victims during this difficult time.
