Newark Police Seek Assistance in Identifying Robbery Suspect

NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Public Safety Department is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed robbery. The incident occurred on Sunday, February 25, 2024, around 10 p.m., in the 1100 block of South Orange Avenue.

A male suspect, described as having a light complexion, approximately 5’9” tall with a thin build, confronted a business owner at gunpoint. The assailant managed to abscond with roughly $4,500.00, fleeing southbound on Dover Street. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket, black sweatpants, sneakers, a ski mask, and gray gloves.

Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé emphasizes the importance of community collaboration in resolving this case and urges anyone with information about the suspect’s identity to contact the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All tips provided to Crime Stoppers will remain confidential and may lead to a reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification and arrest.
