Officials from the Pennsylvania Lottery honored Ruth Schultz of Allegheny County with a commemorative check for her $1 million win in the New Year’s Millionaire Raffle. The presentation took place at the Lottery Area Office located at 1424 Western Avenue in Pittsburgh.

Schultz, the fortunate winner, shared her excitement, revealing that she decided to purchase a New Year’s Millionaire Raffle ticket with part of her previous Powerball winnings. Her winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven store situated at 999 Greentree Road in Pittsburgh, which also received a $5,000 selling bonus.

Recounting the moment she discovered her win, Schultz expressed her disbelief, admitting she hadn’t checked the results the night of the final January 6 drawing. However, the next morning, upon opening the app, she was stunned to learn she had won $1 million.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, Schultz intends to utilize the prize money to support her children’s college tuition and settle outstanding bills. Reflecting on her fortune, she remarked, “I’m grateful and still shaken!”

Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko extended his congratulations to Schultz, highlighting the significance of proceeds from ticket sales in supporting various programs benefiting older Pennsylvanians throughout the year.
