YONKERS, NY — The Yonkers Police Department has apprehended and charged Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes, an 18-year-old resident of Yonkers, in connection with a homicide that occurred in the early hours of February 26, 2024, on Mount Carmel Place.

Responding to a report before 5:00 AM, police officers found Francisco Gordillo, 51, also from Yonkers, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head inside a red pickup truck. Despite emergency efforts, Gordillo was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Yonkers Police Department extends its deepest sympathies to Gordillo’s family and friends.

The investigation, involving the Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit, revealed an argument between Gordillo and Ramos-Cervantes, among others present in the vehicle. Ramos-Cervantes, after briefly leaving the scene, returned with a .45 caliber firearm and shot Gordillo, resulting in his death. He was arrested later on the same day and faces charges of Murder in the 2nd Degree.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza both expressed their sorrow over the loss of life and commended the police department’s swift action in making an arrest, emphasizing the unacceptability of violence as a resolution to disputes.
