NEWARK, NEW JERSEY — U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced charges against five residents of Passaic County, New Jersey, for their involvement in the armed robbery of a Saddle Brook residence. Jamere Dixon, Jahad Foxworth, Tyra Jones, Jancarlos Rodriguez, and Lanasia Smith, all hailing from Paterson, appeared in Newark federal court on February 28.

The group is accused of conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and conspiracy to use and carry a firearm during a crime of violence. Dixon, Foxworth, and Rodriguez were detained, while Jones and Smith were released on $100,000 unsecured bonds.

Court documents reveal that in June 2022, Foxworth, Rodriguez, and Dixon entered a Saddle Brook home, holding two victims at gunpoint and stealing various items, including money and credit cards. Smith facilitated the robbery by providing the assailants with access to the residence and sharing information on valuables inside. The suspects then escaped in a vehicle driven by Jones. Surveillance footage later captured Rodriguez, Jones, and Smith attempting to use the stolen credit cards.

The charges brought against the defendants could result in up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000 or double the gain or loss from the offense. The investigation was a collaborative effort among various law enforcement agencies, including the ATF, New Jersey State Police, and local police departments.
