JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced the arrest of Amanda Rivera, 28, of Staten Island, following a deadly collision in Jersey City on February 3. Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez confirmed Rivera faces several charges, including Aggravated Manslaughter, Reckless Manslaughter, and Assault by Auto.

The incident occurred just past midnight on Route 185, where Rivera’s vehicle struck a parked tractor trailer.

Three women were in the Nissan sedan at the time of the crash. While Rivera and another passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Stephanie Weymouth, 31, from Bayonne, was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center.

Investigations revealed that Rivera was under the influence of alcohol during the accident. She was arrested on March 4 at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and is currently held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, awaiting her court appearance.
