ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) has underscored the importance of road safety following a recent incident. After an ACPD patrol vehicle was hit while attending to a motor vehicle accident, officers launched a special “Move Over” enforcement operation on the morning of Monday, Feb. 4.

During the operation, officers noted nearly two dozen violations of the “Move Over” law. Traffic stops were utilized as educational opportunities, allowing officers to inform motorists about the significance of adhering to this regulation. The department urges drivers to either change lanes or reduce speed when encountering vehicles with flashing lights on the road, emphasizing this action as a crucial step towards ensuring safety for all roadway users.
