Teenagers Arrested After Attempted Jacket Theft in Southwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Four teenagers have been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District following an attempted robbery in Southwest Washington. The incident occurred on March 5, around 3:36 p.m., and involved the assailants attempting to steal a jacket from another individual.

The confrontation began at a bus stop located at 4th and Maine Avenue, Southwest, where the victim was surrounded by four suspects demanding his jacket. After refusing, the victim was threatened with a gun and subsequently assaulted on a bus by the suspects. A further threat was made with a firearm against the victim’s mother when they exited the bus.

Officers responding to the scene managed to apprehend the suspects shortly after the incident. A 13-year-old from Arlington, VA, faces charges of Felony Threats and Assault with the Intent to Rob. The other suspects, including a 15-year-old from Southeast, D.C., a 14-year-old from Arlington, V.A., and another 13-year-old from Southwest, D.C., have been charged with Assault with the Intent to Rob. The swift response of the First District officers led to the arrest and charges, emphasizing the seriousness with which law enforcement is addressing youth violence and crime in the area.
