Crime Spree Suspect Arrested in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced the arrest of Jaleel Fowler, 25, from Southeast D.C., on charges related to a series of violent crimes across the Fourth and Seventh Districts. The arrest occurred on Wednesday, March 6, in the 3600 block of Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue Southeast, by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Fowler faces multiple charges including armed carjacking, armed robbery, unarmed carjacking, and assault with a dangerous weapon. The crimes span from December 2023 to February 2024, with incidents reported in various locations, including Peabody Street Northwest and Martin Luther King Jr., Avenue Southeast. A handgun was recovered at the time of Fowler’s arrest, which was made pursuant to two outstanding arrest warrants.

The arrest marks significant progress in the police department’s efforts to address a series of violent offenses that have impacted the community. An earlier arrest of a 26-year-old male in connection with these crimes occurred on February 10, further indicating the ongoing investigation’s scope and success in targeting criminal activities in the area.
