NEWARK, NJ – Today, a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang was sentenced to 84 months in prison for participating in a racketeering conspiracy, among other charges. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentencing of Amir Edmonds, also known as “G Baby,” a 22-year-old resident of Newark.

On September 13, Edmonds pleaded guilty to a superseding indictment, which included charges of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton delivered the sentence in Newark federal court.

Documents and statements presented in court revealed that from 2015 through September 22, Edmonds was involved with the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, a group engaged in violence and the distribution of controlled substances in New Jersey and beyond. Edmonds admitted to distributing controlled substances alongside at least one other gang member. On January 7, he was found in possession of cocaine and fentanyl with the intent to distribute, as well as a firearm to advance the drug trafficking crime.

In addition to his prison sentence, Edmonds will undergo four years of supervised release following his incarceration.
