ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced temporary overnight closures for the Route 30/Absecon Boulevard Bridge over Beach Thorofare in Atlantic City. These closures, which began on February 26, will continue through March 14 as part of ongoing maintenance work on the bridge.

Scheduled 30-minute stoppages will occur in both directions of the bridge, starting at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, until 5 a.m. the following morning. The pattern will repeat nightly from Monday, March 11, through Thursday, March 14, during the same hours. The closures are necessary for the removal and replacement of existing bolts on the drawbridge.

To assist with traffic control during these intervals, New Jersey State Police will be on site. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes to avoid delays:

Eastbound Alternate Routes:

  • From Route 30/Absecon Boulevard, turn right onto South New Road/Route 9 southbound, then left onto the Atlantic City Expressway eastbound, or
  • Turn left onto Route 40/Route 322/Black Horse Pike eastbound to reach Atlantic City.

Westbound Alternate Routes:

  • From Atlantic City, use the Atlantic City Expressway westbound and take Exit 5 to Route 9/Northfield/Smithville, or
  • Take Route 40/Route 322/Black Horse Pike westbound, then right onto Route 9/South New Road northbound, to return to Route 30/Absecon Boulevard.

Travelers are encouraged to plan their journeys accordingly during these temporary bridge closures.
