BOSTON – Fernando Bost, a 32-year-old from Boston with a history of felony convictions, has been sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for the armed robberies of businesses in Boston and Brockton. Following his prison term, Bost will undergo three years of supervised release. His guilty plea in December 2023 encompassed two counts of Hobbs Act robbery and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy emphasized the defendant’s long history of violence and the importance of DOJ’s role in protecting communities from such threats. Special Agent in Charge Jodi Cohen of the FBI’s Boston Division also highlighted the priority of removing violent criminals from the streets.

Bost’s criminal activities were extensive, with past convictions for armed robbery and several pending state charges for similar offenses at the time of his latest federal crimes. The robberies, carried out on March 29, 2023, targeted RJ Smoke and Convenience Store in Dorchester and a 7-Eleven in Brockton. Surveillance footage linked Bost to both crimes, further supported by evidence involving a vehicle rented to Bost’s girlfriend and transactions on Bost’s EBT card.

The arrest occurred during a traffic stop near Springfield, where a loaded firearm was recovered from Bost, underscoring his disregard for the law and public safety.
