Rain and Wind Raise Flood and Damage Concerns

SNN Weather Center

TOMS RIVER, NJ The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert forecasting more rain from Saturday through Monday. Expected widespread rain this weekend, particularly on Saturday and into the night, could bring about 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rainfall. Although these amounts usually wouldn’t prompt flood warnings, the current saturation of the ground poses a small risk for minor flooding along rivers and smaller waterways.

Additionally, very windy conditions are anticipated from late Sunday into Monday. There’s a significant chance, estimated at 50%, that wind gusts could surpass 45 mph. Such wind speeds, especially with the already wet conditions, heighten the potential for tree damage, which could be more severe than usual.

Residents experiencing power outages are advised to contact Jersey Central Power and Light at 888-544-4877 or text OUT to LIGHTS (544487). Remember, 911 should be used for emergencies only.
