TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, NJ – In the early hours of March 9, the Township of Hamilton Police Department was called to the scene of a single-car accident at the intersection of Route 40 and New York Avenue. Daniel Sabat, a 36-year-old resident of Mays Landing, lost control of his 2019 Volkswagen Jetta, colliding with a traffic signal and utility pole.

The impact caused significant disruption, with both the traffic signal and utility pole, along with electrical wires, falling onto the roadway. This resulted in the closure of both lanes for around 15 hours as emergency services worked to clear the scene. Sabat was transported to Atlanticare Mainland Division with moderate injuries and has been issued a summons for careless driving.

Numerous emergency services, including the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Atlantic City Electric, and local fire departments, were involved in managing the aftermath and rerouting traffic.
