Newark Armed Robbery Suspect Souhgt

NEWARK, NJ – A suspect is being sought by Newark police in connection to an armed robbery that occurred on the evening of March 5. The incident took place at a business on Broadway near Bloomfield Place, where a man brandishing an assault rifle demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect, described as a 6-ft tall African American male weighing around 240 pounds, entered the premises with a shopping bag. He revealed an assault rifle from within the bag and announced the robbery. Following the suspect’s demands, the clerk filled the shopping bag with other bags and handed it over. The assailant then fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV, heading south on Broadway.

He was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket, a red hooded sweatshirt, a red hat, blue jeans, and red sneakers. Newark detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
