Prescribed Burn Scheduled for Black Run Preserve in Evesham

EVESHAM, NJ – The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has announced plans for a prescribed burn in the Black Run Preserve and nearby areas on Wednesday. Evesham Fire Department will provide support with suppression resources for the operation.

The prescribed burn aims to manage the forested area safely, with the burn area delineated by natural and man-made boundaries, including the Kings Grant dog park and a water/wetlands area west of Hopewell road. The operation is designed to proceed slowly from south to north, concluding naturally at wet zones.

This environmental management technique requires precise weather conditions for execution. Consequently, the scheduling offers minimal advance notice to the public. During the burn, affected sections of the Black Run Preserve will be closed to the public. Residents of Evesham and Medford Township may notice smoke. The area is expected to smolder until sufficiently dampened by rain.
