WALDORF, MD — The Maryland State Fire Marshal announced an investigation into a fire on Monday, March 11th. The incident occurred at a vacant dwelling at 3135 Leonardtown Road in Waldorf, Charles County.

The fire was reported at approximately 4:04 p.m., involving a property with no known occupants. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths associated with the blaze. The estimated loss from the fire is reported to be $100,000 to the structure, with no contents reported lost.

No smoke alarms or fire alarm/sprinkler systems were present at the time of the fire, and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to the emergency, deploying 40 firefighters and controlling the fire within 20 minutes.

The fire was initially discovered by a passer-by, with the blaze’s origin being inside the dwelling. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
